Google CEO Sundar Pichai got Padma Bhushan

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India. Pichai was awarded this honor by the Government of India for his contribution in the field of business and industry. Indian Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu presented the honor to Sundar in the presence of family members in San Francisco last Friday. He said, "Sundar's journey is inspiring. He is a shining manifestation of Indian genius to the world in innovative energy.'' Sandhu wrote on Twitter, "We are delighted to present the Padma Bhushan to Google CEO Sundar Pichai in San Francisco. His inspirational journey from Madurai to Mountain View strengthened Indo-US economic and technological ties. He affirmed the contribution of Indian talent to global innovation.” Overwhelmed by this award, Kharagpur IIT alumnus Pichai writes in his blog, "India is a part of my life. Wherever I go, this country is in my heart. I was lucky to be born in a family that gave special importance to education. I am thankful to my parents. They had to sacrifice a lot for my future.” The Google CEO also said, “I am grateful to the Government of India and every Indian for this honour. It's a great thing to be honored by the country that made me.''
